Into the Depths: A Mythic Dance Theatre Experience

Audiences will be swept into a world of mystery and transformation with Into the Depths, the headline production of Fusion Fest Africa 2026.

Blending epic storytelling, cinematic stagecraft, and the artistry of Fusion Belly Dance, Into the Depths follows a travellers’ descent into hidden realms where guardians, ancestral spirits, and the Queen of the Deep shape the path of metamorphosis.
The journey unfolds in five acts — from the awakening at the Lantern Gate, through storms and trials, to the suspended threshold of the in-between, and finally, radiant rebirth in The Becoming.

Featured Artist
The star of Into the Depths is Sara Lyn Anderson (Las Vegas, USA), an internationally acclaimed Fusion Belly Dance artist. Anderson’s commanding presence anchors the production and makes her the featured guest of Fusion Fest Africa 2026, bringing international prestige to the Johannesburg stage.

Festival Highlights
Fusion Fest Africa runs from 15–18 October 2026, offering dancers a rare opportunity to train directly with Sara Lyn Anderson. Highlights include a 6-hour Performance Project, the Into the Depths 12-hour dance intensive, and three 2-hour dance workshops. The festival is produced and directed by Natalie Clark, known for her mythic storytelling and dramaturgical show design.
