SHAKESPEARE SCHOOLS FESTIVAL - GEORGE

The 16th Shakespeare Schools Festival Africa (SSFA) is coming to George! From 11 to 13 September 2026, the historic Market Community Theatre will host a week of theatrical magic. Local primary and high schools and youth groups will stage dynamic, abridged Shakespeare plays.

As Africa’s largest youth drama festival, SSFA has empowered over 15,000 learners since 2009. More than just theatre, it builds literacy, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

The festival is fully inclusive, welcoming performers of all abilities, including those who are Deaf, blind, or physically disabled. Come witness our youth redefine the classics!
