About

The Balwin Sport Marathon Series launches in February 2024 with 4 races around South Africa. The first Balwin Sport sponsored marathon kicks off on 11 February 2024 with the two-lapper Jeppe Marathon, followed by the Cape Peninsula Marathon on 18 February 2024, the Phobians Pretoria Marathon on 25 February 2024 and finally, the Dolphins Coast marathon on 17 March 2024.

All the title marathons are Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon qualifiers except for the Dolphin Coast marathon, where participants can only qualify for Comrades. The marathons are some of the country’s oldest, with the Cape Peninsula Marathon being run for the 56th time in 2024, having been founded by Celtic Harriers in 1964

To further motivate participation, runners over any of the title event distances (5km, 10km, 21.1km or 42.2km) could qualify to win a fully furnished Balwin apartment when they visit one of the developer’s show units after the races, with participants being given more than 7 months to boost their chances after the events.

Johannesburg - Jeppe Marathon - 11th February 2024

Cape Town - Peninsula Marathon - 18th February 2024
42km, 21km.

Pretoria - Pretoria Marathon - 25th February 2024
42km, 21km, 10km, 5km.

Durban - Dolphin Coast Marathon - 17th March 2024.
42.2km, 21.1km, 10km, 5km.

There is a no refund policy, entries cannot be refunded, cancelled, returned or exchanged on account of weather or unforeseen events occurring beyond the control of the event organisers.

Two Oceans and Comrades Qualifier.

The 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km start and finish Saheti School, Senderwood.

Race packs can be collected:
Jeppe Quondam - Friday 9 February from 10h00 - 18h00 and
Saheti School - Saturday 10 February from 09h00 to 17h00.

Balwin Sport Peninsula Marathon - Cape Town - 18th Feb 2024

The event is an Abbott age group World Rankings qualifier.

Race numbers and bibs can be collected at Sportsmans Warehouse (Tokai, Rondebosch, Tygervalley, and Somerset West) on Friday, 16 February 2024 from 12h00 – 17h00 and on Saturday, 17 February 2024 from 10h00 – 17h00.

Free race shirts will be given to the first 2000 42.2KM runners and 2000 21.1KM runners. Race shirts are capped at a total of 4000. Celtic Harriers Club reserves the right to substitute sizes selected.

42.2KM – 05h15 from Main Road, Green Point
21.1KM – 07h00 from Children’s Way, Bergvliet

Balwin Sport Pretoria Marathon – Pretoria – 25 Feb 2024

Qualifier for both Two Oceans and Comrades.

The Pretoria Marathon, hosted by Phobians Athletics Club, has been held for almost 30 years in the capital city and has become a legendary test of fitness.

NO RACE PACK COLLECTION ON RACE DAY.

Race Shirts are capped at a total of 4000 for the 42KM, 21KM and 10KM Races. There are no Race Shirts for the 5KM Fun Run. Phobians reserves the right to substitute sizes selected.

All races start and finish at PHSOB Club, Lynnwood.

Balwin Sport Dolphin Coast Marathon - Durban - 17th March 2024

Your favourite Comrades Qualifier on the spectacular Dolphin Coast.

The Old Course is back on the M4 Coastal Highway from Ballito to Durban. The 21km starts at Sibaya and the 10km starts at Virginia and the Finish for all the races is on the world class Durban Promenade.
