Meiringspoort Outing/Uitstappie

The Simon van der Stel Foundation (Southern Cape) has arranged an outing to Meiringspoort on 25 May 2024.

Meiringspoort, a passage that joins the Groot to the Klein Karro. Originally traversed by indigenous Khoisan tribes, it later became a vital trade route for early settlers and explorers.

First traversed by Petrus Johannes Meiring in 1848, the poort is a geological and historical wonder, with its 26 drifts crossing the Groot Rivier.
