In this fresh and daring one-person play, titled SONDA, audiences are taken on a satirical journey through the state of South Africa post-Apartheid. Written as a piece of new age protest theatre, SONDA fearlessly delves into pressing issues such as unemployment, poor service delivery, high crime rates, a failing education system, widespread poverty, the prevalence of incompetent public servants, and unfulfilled promises.
The 70-minute performance, inspired by iconic works like Woza Albert!, combines humor, boldness, and candor to shed light on the challenges faced by many South Africans. Through physical comedy, miming, and clowning, SONDA not only entertains but also captivates audiences, using laughter as a powerful tool to deliver a poignant message. By giving a voice to the voiceless, SONDA sparks conversation and introspection, inviting audiences to confront and address the realities of contemporary South Africa.
