Barnaby Folcey, a long-absent member of an aristocratic English family, returns to Marlgate Manor at the request of Baronet Orion Leduc. During the family gathering, Barnaby is murdered. As he dies, he writes the letters “b-a-r,” which implicates everyone present. The police take forever to arrive, and the bizarre group of family members try to unmask the murderer.
