Billy Monama’s Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert – 5th Edition: Five Decades of Youth Legacy.

The Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert returns for its 5th edition, commemorating 50 years since the 1976 Youth Uprising. Taking place on 29–30 May 2026 at Joburg Theatre, this powerful production celebrates five decades of youth resilience and South Africa’s rich musical heritage.

Curated by acclaimed guitarist Billy Monama, the four-hour musical journey brings together a 20-piece orchestra conducted by Grammy Award–winning producer Joe “JB” Arthur, alongside some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists.
The star-studded lineup features Lira, Zoë Modiga, Vusi Nova, Tutu Puoane, Billy Monama, with legendary guitarist Jimmy Dludlu as the honorary artist. Together they present a moving tribute to the sounds, stories, and spirit that have shaped South Africa’s cultural identity.

Blending jazz, soul, and African musical traditions, Rebirth of Ubuntu is more than a concert—it is a celebration of unity, heritage, and the enduring spirit of ubuntu.
